Expedience® Residential Dual-Mode Subscriber Unit

Residential Dual Mode Subscriber Unit

High performance customer premise non-line-of-sight unit for WiMAX (802.16e) and Expedience® networks

Motorola's Residential Dual-Mode Subscriber Unit provides optimal performance in both Expedience and WiMAX (802.16e) networks. This unique CPE supports Expedience and WiMAX networks and greatly simplifies the transition of Expedience systems to WiMAX.

Motorola's Residential Dual-Mode Subscriber Unit (RDM) is a high performance, broadband wireless access modem for indoor applications. It is a true Non Line-of-Sight (NLOS) Plug & Play Ethernet device, requiring no drivers to be added to the subscriber's computer. The RDM provides a radio interface to both Expedience and WiMAX (802.16e) networks.

Users are connected in seconds, enjoying broadband speeds at indoor locations throughout the entire system's coverage area.

The RDM is ideal for single host or SOHO LAN applications interfacing a standard Ethernet 10/100base-T RJ-45 connector.

In Expedience mode, the unit functions as an Ethernet bridge (Layer 2) device.

In WiMAX mode, the RDM becomes a full featured router with DHCP and firewall capabilities.
